Packaging options

Packaging Formats & Configurations

Compare packaging formats available for the selected product and line configuration.

Individual Candy Flow Pack

Individual Candy Flow Pack

Individual toffee pieces or other suitable regularly shaped candies are wrapped using compatible roll film. The feeding and sealing configuration depends on candy dimensions, surface condition and required pack size.

Grouped Candy Flow Pack

Grouped Candy Flow Pack

Multiple candy pieces are aligned and arranged into groups before horizontal flow wrapping. Product spacing, grouping arrangements and pack dimensions depend on candy shape, surface characteristics and the required quantity per pack.

Tray + Flow Pack

Tray + Flow Pack

Suitable candy products are arranged in trays before entering the horizontal flow wrapper. Tray dimensions, product arrangement and feeding requirements depend on candy shape, surface condition and the selected packaging configuration.

Secondary Case Packing

Secondary Case Packing

Finished candy flow packs can be grouped and loaded into corrugated shipping cases using optional downstream case packing equipment.

Packaging process

How the Packaging Process Works

Packaging stages depend on the product, pack format and selected line configuration.

  1. Candy Infeed
    01

    Candy Infeed

Unwrapped candy pieces suitable for the selected feeding system are transferred from upstream production equipment to the packaging line through a feeding conveyor. The infeed arrangement depends on candy dimensions, shape, surface characteristics and incoming product flow.

  2. Alignment & Spacing
    02

    Alignment & Spacing

Candy pieces are guided into the required position and spacing before packaging. Conveyor guides and transfer arrangements are selected according to product dimensions, surface characteristics and handling requirements to limit sticking, misalignment and unnecessary product contact.

  3. Grouping / Tray Loading
    03

    Grouping / Tray Loading

    Optional

Multiple candy pieces can be arranged into groups according to the required quantity per pack. For tray-based packaging, an optional loading system positions suitable candy products in trays before horizontal flow wrapping.

  4. Flow Wrapping
    04

    Flow Wrapping

Individual candy pieces or prepared product groups enter the horizontal flow wrapper. Compatible roll film forms around the products, followed by longitudinal and transverse heat sealing to complete the primary package. Film and sealing settings depend on the selected packaging material.

  5. Secondary Case Packing
    05

    Secondary Case Packing

    Optional

Finished candy flow packs can be transferred to optional downstream case packing equipment and arranged in corrugated shipping cases according to pack dimensions, case layout and production requirements.

Steps marked optional depend on the actual project configuration.

Choosing a solution

How to Choose the Right Packaging Solution

Compare the key factors that affect equipment selection and line configuration.

Candy Type & Dimensions

Candy Type & Dimensions

Confirm the candy type, shape, length, width, height, weight and surface condition before selecting the feeding system. Hard candies, toffee pieces and jelly candies may require different feeding and transfer arrangements depending on their stickiness, softness, fragility and handling requirements.

Feeding & Product Handling

Feeding & Product Handling

Review candy feeding, alignment, spacing, conveyor transfers and optional grouping requirements. The feeding arrangement depends on product dimensions, surface stickiness, shape consistency and incoming product flow. Suitable guiding and transfer components should be selected according to the candy characteristics.

Packaging Format & Output

Packaging Format & Output

Define the required flow wrapping format, candy quantity per pack, packaging film specifications, sealing requirements and target finished packs per minute. Individual packs, grouped packs and tray-based configurations require different feeding arrangements. Optional downstream case packing should also be considered when planning the packaging line.

Common questions

Candy Packaging FAQs

Answers to common questions about product handling, packaging formats and line configuration.

1. What types of candy can a candy wrapping machine handle?

A candy wrapping machine can handle suitable regularly shaped hard candies, toffee pieces, jelly candies and other confectionery products. The feeding and wrapping configuration depends on candy dimensions, shape, surface condition and consistency. Soft, sticky or irregularly shaped candies may require dedicated feeding components, additional product conditioning or a different packaging method.

2. Can soft or sticky jelly candies be wrapped automatically?

Some jelly candies can be wrapped automatically when their surface condition and shape are suitable for the feeding and wrapping system. Sticky surfaces may cause products to adhere to conveyors, guides or each other. Candy samples should be evaluated to determine whether surface treatment, product conditioning or a dedicated feeding arrangement is required.

3. What is the difference between candy flow wrapping and twist wrapping?

Horizontal flow wrapping uses roll film to form a package around an individual candy or a prepared group, with longitudinal and transverse seals. Twist wrapping typically closes the wrapper by twisting one or both ends. These methods use different wrapping mechanisms. The candy flow wrapping configurations presented here do not imply that the same machine can perform twist wrapping.

4. Can one candy wrapping machine handle different candy sizes and shapes?

A candy wrapping machine may accommodate different candy dimensions within its supported adjustment range. Size changes can require adjustments to conveyor guides, product spacing, film width, bag length and sealing settings. Significant differences in candy shape, surface condition or grouping requirements may require additional feeding components or a different equipment configuration.

5. Can candies be packed individually, in groups or in trays?

Suitable candies can be wrapped individually or arranged into groups before horizontal flow wrapping, depending on the selected equipment configuration. Tray-based packaging requires a compatible tray-loading system and suitable product dimensions. Finished flow packs can also be transferred to optional downstream case packing equipment.

6. What packaging films are suitable for candy flow wrapping?

Candy flow wrapping can use compatible roll-film materials selected according to the product's moisture sensitivity, barrier requirements, sealing performance and storage conditions. Film thickness, structure and sealability must match the packaging equipment and candy characteristics. The proposed film should be tested with the selected machine and product before production.

7. Can a candy packing line connect to existing production equipment?

A candy packing line can be configured to connect with compatible upstream production, cooling or conveying equipment. The connection depends on conveyor height, incoming product arrangement, production output, product transfer requirements and available factory space. Additional feeding, alignment or grouping equipment may be required.

8. What information is needed to select a candy wrapping machine?

Please provide candy photos or videos, product dimensions, weight, shape, surface condition, required packaging format and target output in finished packs per minute. Details about packaging film, incoming product flow, upstream equipment and any required grouping, tray loading or case packing functions will help determine a suitable equipment configuration.
