Packaging options
Compare packaging formats available for the selected product and line configuration.
Individual sponge cakes, cake slices or small cakes are wrapped using roll film. The feeding and wrapping configuration is matched to product dimensions and handling requirements.
Multiple small cakes are aligned and arranged into groups before flow wrapping. Product spacing and feeding arrangements depend on cake dimensions, softness and pack quantity.
Cakes are placed in suitable trays before horizontal flow wrapping. Tray dimensions and feeding arrangements are selected according to product shape, stability and packaging requirements.
Finished cake packs can be arranged and loaded into corrugated shipping cases using optional downstream case packing equipment.
Packaging process
Packaging stages depend on the product, pack format and selected line configuration.
Unwrapped cakes are transferred to the packaging line through a feeding conveyor. The infeed arrangement is selected according to cake dimensions, shape, softness and upstream production conditions.
Cakes are guided into the required position and spacing before wrapping. Conveyor guides and transfer timing are adjusted to reduce unnecessary contact and compression during product handling.
Multiple small cakes can be arranged into groups before packaging. For products requiring additional support, an optional tray-loading system can position cakes in suitable trays before flow wrapping.
Individual cakes or prepared groups enter the horizontal flow wrapper. Roll film is formed around the products, followed by longitudinal and transverse heat sealing to complete the primary package.
Finished cake packs can be transferred to optional downstream case packing equipment and arranged in corrugated shipping cases according to pack dimensions and the required case layout.
Steps marked optional depend on the actual project configuration.
Choosing a solution
Compare the key factors that affect equipment selection and line configuration.
Confirm the cake shape, dimensions, height, weight and softness before selecting the packaging equipment. Sponge cakes, muffins, cake slices and Swiss rolls may require different feeding and product support arrangements.
Review cake alignment, spacing, conveyor transfers and support requirements. Soft or delicate cakes may need adjusted guiding and feeding arrangements, while tray-based packaging requires a suitable tray-loading configuration.
Define the required pack format, cakes per pack, tray dimensions if applicable, film specifications and target finished packs per minute to determine the suitable wrapping and downstream equipment configuration.
Our approach
How we review product handling, equipment configuration and packaging line requirements.
Review product size, shape and handling requirements before selecting the packaging equipment.
Compare feeding, alignment, grouping and conveyor connections based on your production layout.
Discuss primary packaging, product handling and downstream equipment options according to your project requirements.
Share product samples, pack dimensions, target output and available factory space to review suitable equipment configurations.
Common questions
Answers to common questions about product handling, packaging formats and line configuration.
Cake packaging machines can handle suitable sponge cakes, muffins, cake slices, Swiss rolls and other small bakery products. The feeding and wrapping configuration depends on product dimensions, shape, softness and surface characteristics. Different cake types may require dedicated feeding or support arrangements.
Soft cakes require careful control of conveyor transfers, product spacing and contact pressure. The feeding system should minimize unnecessary compression, collisions and sudden drops. Product samples and packaging trials help determine a suitable handling configuration and assess possible deformation.
A cake packaging machine may handle different product dimensions within its supported adjustment range. Size changes can require adjustments to conveyor guides, feeding intervals, film width, bag length and sealing settings. Products with significantly different shapes or handling requirements may need additional components.
Depending on the equipment configuration, cakes can be individually flow wrapped or arranged into groups before packaging. Products requiring additional support can be placed in suitable trays using an optional tray-loading system. The packaging arrangement depends on cake dimensions, softness and the required pack format.
Cakes should reach a suitable temperature and surface condition before packaging. Excess heat or residual moisture may cause condensation inside the package and affect product quality. Cooling requirements depend on the cake recipe, filling, packaging film and storage conditions. Certain products may require additional temperature control.
An automatic cake packaging line can be designed to connect with upstream cooling, conveying or production equipment when the interfaces are compatible. Conveyor height, product orientation, transfer method, upstream output and available factory space must be reviewed when planning the feeding and wrapping system.
Actual output depends on cake dimensions, feeding consistency, product spacing, quantity per pack and any grouping or tray-loading operations. In an integrated packaging line, the slowest connected stage limits the final output. Target capacity should be specified in finished packs per minute and confirmed against the proposed equipment configuration.
Please provide cake photos or videos, dimensions, height, weight, product softness, packaging format and target output. Information about fillings or toppings, packaging film, upstream conveyors, available factory space and any required tray loading or case packing functions will help determine the suitable machine configuration.
Tell us what you pack, your preferred packaging format and your target output. We can review the requirements and discuss suitable equipment and line configurations.
